A Place for Refugees

Have you recently arrived in the UK and are in need of support?

As part of our mission to spread the love of God, Ascension Balham is here to provide a place of welcome and safety for our local refugee community.

Every Wednesday morning from 9:30-12:00, the church is specifically open to our refugee guests.

We provide free English conversation classes, refreshments, hairdressing from our volunteer barber, access to the clothing bank and basic toiletries and creative art sessions. There is a small play area for pre-school children.

We work alongside Care4Calais to try to meet more specific needs of these families as they navigate the long wait of the legal process of asylum seeking and process the trauma of leaving their home country and travelling to the UK.
